Wow, those Brummies were like 'wounded animals'....Dangerous and not to be under-estimated.

Many folk, including myself, figured that this would be bit of a 'walk over' for our boys but the point hungry 'Bovril Drinkers' (eeh Carrit, they got no Boveril!!!) made a real match of it!
Great Speedway!

Mr Tomasz P is fast becoming a mini legend here in the UK, taking scalps where ever he goes. I felt constantly reminded of a certain Hackney Hawk Zenon Plech from several years back. Never say die, but with an amazing sense of balance and control over his bike.
In one heat, 6 I think it was, Johno, Tomasz and Justin went into and out of bend two like one item. Tomasz picked up a bucket load of drive and pulled a wheelie that could have taken all three of them out. He controlled it so well and managed to take the lead till the flag with checks on it!
Heart in the mouth stuff!!

Again, spare a thought for Justin who had another motor go last night. I think that it may have been heat 6 (mayb not) but when he rode back into the pits after the race his motor sounded like a big tin of spanners being rattled heavily. He really did/does need all the help that SREF and others can provide.

Simon took a well deserved rider of the night. His heat 3 contretemp with the ever improving, but slightly over enthusiastic, Mr Lingren left him knowhere to go on bend 1 but the fence. Thankfull Simon managed to remain on the bike somehow but was then stone last. Most folk thought that it should have been an 'All Four Back' but that was not to be and Simon then turned into a man possessed and chased the other riders unbelievably hard for the rest of the race and was only a 'gnats testicular parts' from a point scoring position.
In typical Simon fashion, a quiet word (or two!!) was had afterwards with the offending rider and all was forgiven (??).

After that Simon settled down into the Arena specialist that he has become with a 3rd and two very fine wins.

Tom and Jay both looked much happier with things and scored 8 ppoints (plus bonus) apiece for their team. Tom celebrated his partnership 5-1 with Jay in typical Welsh tradition....DONUTS....Hmnnnnn!

Cory had a bit of a torrid night with only six points to his name...but many, many more for effort. Yes John, Frank Smart does come to mind watching Cory. A terrific stylist!

Oh well, I wonder what those Brummies have in store for us at home next week. I sure hope that we are able to make the journey up there for what should be a terrific meeting!

Oohhh...nearly forgot. For those of you who didn't attend the after meeting drinkies and Rider of the Night Trophy Presentation in the clubhouse, the reason for Johno's uncharacteristic last place in Heat 15 was down to the fact that he spoke with Big Ron about trying out a different motor to see how it went . . you can't really tell from just going around on your own after the match, it needs to be in actual competition.! The match was won with the points in the bag so Johno was given the green light. Although not actually said in so many words but the phrase 'couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding' was intimated. Back to the tuners??
